11th International Conference on Violence, Abuse and Trauma

XVIth ISPCAN International Congress on Child Abuse and Neglect

  • The title of the Congress “Children in a Changing World: Getting It Right” reflects the need to ensure that research, knowledge, policies, the shape of services and practice skills address these challenges and take advantage of the opportunities, as well as recognizes the dangers and adverse consequences. Asia Pacific Childhoods Conference
July 17-20, Singapore

  • The National University of Singapore will be hosting a regional conference to look into the  study of childhood in the Asia Pacific region, where new and emerging needs of children may be poorly understood by adults and welfare agencies. The Asia-Pacific Childhoods Conference will be the first regional conference devoted to academic child research and will focus on developing concepts and problem-solving frameworks, at the same time promoting regional networks for teaching, research and publication on children and childhood. Activists, policymakers and representatives of donor agencies who have an interest in research on children and childhood are encouraged to attend in order to improve the interface between academics and practitioners.

JUNE 2006

Regional Conference on Experience Sharing and Learning from the Best Practices of Mock Trials (Trafficked Survivors)
June 26-27, New Delhi, India

  • Trafficking survivors need support in going through the justice systems and processes. They may have in adjusting to change in their position, from being victims of abuse and exploitation, to being witnesses. Holding mock trials is one way of assisting them to walk through this. From June 26-27, 2006, Stop Child Abuse will be organizing the above event in New Delhi, India to share best practices in the use of these mock trials. The conference will also seek to strengthen ties and increase regional co-operation between the civil society organisations, judiciary system and the survivors of trafficking.
