Today is
The Asha Forum in Asia
The Asha Forum is one part of Viva Network specialising in
issues of child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking. Since
1994, Viva Network has sought to develop a visible and functional
global movement of Christians getting better help to more ‘children
at risk’. Operating through regional centers and satellite offices
in 39 countries, Viva
Network links over 8,000 organizations in 192 countries,
reaching over 10 million children.
In
February 2004, The Asha Forum movement in Asia came together
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where over 50 leaders in organizations participating
in the movement worked together to prioritise four areas of need to address of
child sexual abuse in Asia in a more coordinated way. Following this, a second consultation in Chiang Mai, Thailand
in March 2005 developed four working groups, each with its
own strategic 5 and 2 year plans, to combine their efforts to best
address all forms of child sexual abuse in Asia.
